Festival of Colors!!

So about 3 weeks ago we went to the Festival of Colors. It's a Hindu celebration held in Spanish Fork, UT (and all over as well) to bring in the spring season. Who knew there was a Hindu temple in the middle of Utah, pretty random. So basically its about a handful of Hindus and about 15,000 BYU and UVU students ha ha ha.
What you do is you go down and buy these pouches of vibrant colors of chalk. Then you sing a song where you just repeat Hare Krishna over and over to a beat and you throw this colored chalk on yourselves and those around you. It's a great tradition. Its basically the only time you can throw stuff at people and its ok. :) So you also count down from 20 and then you all throw the chalk in the air at once. Its pretty crazy when this happens, it blacks out the sun and you pretty much can't breath for about 2 mins (that part is not so fun).
Over all though it was a lot of fun. Kasey and I had never gone before and almost didn't go this year either but we are very glad we did cause it was well worth it!! If you're ever in UT around this time it is a must do!!

Before the madness started with our good friends Brad and Amra

First couple of blows of chalk to the face ha ha ha

The Hindu Temple...so random

During the massive chalk throwing!!! It was seriously CRAZY!!!
Also look at the youtube video of it here you will see the madness....

The Other Blog....Well Kinda

So I have another blog it's www.erinsbloomsandblossoms.blogspot.com you can link to it from my sidebar on this page. This is a blog with pictures of all the floral arrangements I have recently designed. I originally made this blog for a class this semester. We were to pick something to work on that we were passionate about, but he wanted it to be somewhat career oriented. Well I love flowers and ever since I took a floral design class last fall I have loved dealing with flowers and it has become my dream to own a floral shop!

Anyways for a part of this project I was supposed to make a portfolio of my designs so that maybe one day I can accomplish my dream of designing flowers and owning my own floral shop. This way I would have all my arrangements documented and people would be able to see my work. But I have been very reluctant to show anyone this blog because I'm not super confident in my work. I just figure I am never going to get any better till I get other people's opinions on my work so I have to suck up my pride and let people see. Plus lets be honest Kasey is a boy and he thinks everything I do looks great (what a good husband). So if you would like to take a look at it and let me know what you think that would be great.... :)

Thanks guys!!

Here is a sneak peak of something I did recently. :)

So as we all know I am a horrible blogger so I am just going to catch you up on ohhhh the past 7 MONTHS!! Yeah I know I'm seriously the worst!! So I am going to work my way oldest to the more recent so you may want to now start at the bottom and work your way up. Hopefully I will get better at this but we'll see with school and such. :) Its been a great past 7 months though so we're excited for what is in store for us next! :)

Oh and Kasey made this little slide show of our whole first year and posted it on youtube because we can't seem to figure out how to post it directly on here so here's the link :) Enjoy!

NEW YEARS IN VEGAS

CHRISTMAS IN CALI WITH KASEY'S FAMILY

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AT THE ARIZONA TEMPLE

DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING AT MY AUNTS HOUSE

Kasey learned of how to put chickens to "sleep" in Paraguay
He would put their head under their wing and then spin them around in a circle for a bit and put it on the ground. The chicken then wouldn't move until someone touched it. We were all very entertained and of course Paul wanted to learn too. :)
