Sites in Alaska

We are still surviving here is Alaska! The weather isn't so great cause its not a warm summer like we are use to. The highest it gets here is about 72 so it is pleasant weather just not lay out in the sun weather, most the time its in the mid 60's. I did finally get a Job. I work at Wellsfargo in their retail department. I basically open mail and make copies all day and it kinda sucks but at the same time the day goes by really really fast because I'm always doing something. Kasey is doing really well in sales and he is actually #27 in the company right now so I am really proud of him!

Now to "Sites In Alaska." So I was driving to the grocery store during rush hour and on my way I approached a semi-major intersection. As I'm sitting in the car I looked over to my left and see...A BEAR!!! Not even just one! I saw a mama bear and her 2 cubs!! Crazy I know. So of course I want to get a closer look because hey it's a bear for goodness sacks! So they walked into a local neighborhood and here I am following them. I ended up following them into a park (lots o people were around) and I reach this open field where they are just playing. The two cubs were so cute they were wrestling and just having fun. Luckily I had our video camera in the car so I was able to get them on video but I was a little scared for a bit as you can tell at the end of the video. Just watch.

So I called Kasey and told him all about how I was following these bears around and he was like what were you thinking??? Do you realize that bears are the most dangerous when they have cubs with them? What would you have done if he would have come running at you? I replayed I would have just turned and ran closer to all the people that were at the park. He then told me that bears can run 35 mph....well needless to say I will NEVER do that again but I am glad I did it once and got to see them :)

So a couple weekends ago the whole office decided that we were going to go on a little Sunday drive and see whats in Alaska. So these are some pictures of the two places that we visited. The first is Flat Top. As you can tell it is a mountain that over looks all of Anchorage. It was a really cool site to see and good to be out and about in the fresh air!

So on our way up (mind you people are all over walking around) Kasey decides he needs to go to the bathroom so he goes a little off the trial to take a leek and we couldn't help but take a picture! Ha Ha Ha

This is some of the boys in the office just looking out over Anchorage.

I just love this picture. It looks like we are actually in the sky!!

All the boys at Baluga point!

Later in the summer you can come here and see whales swim by. I can't wait till we get to go back and see them all!

So the boys decided they had spent enough time just looking at the sites and wanted to do something manly. Well what did they decide? They wanted to move this huge log so that they could stand on it and then try to stay on it as it started to roll down this hill. I'm just glad no one got hurt! Boys will be boys!

The office wives!! Love these girls!!

Well we don't really get to go out with everyone much unless the guys come home early on a sat night. Well we got lucky because they came home and we all go to go bowling which I love!! So here is a little bit of the fun!!

About two sundays ago we walk out of church and at the edge of the parking lot there is a moose just chowing down on some shrubs!! CRAZY!!

Finally, the land of the midnight sun!

So as you know it like barely gets dark here. Well before we moved up here I always kinda thought that people exaggerated it a little. Well now that I live here...Nope there is absolutely NOOO exageration! We were driving to dinner at 10:30 pm (Kasey had just gotten back from work) and the sun was directly in our eyes so we had to put on our sunglasses!! It was so weird to us that we had to take a picture! The longest day of the year is the 23 of June and I plan on taking pictures throughout the day so you can really see what its like here! It's crazy!!

This is some of our favorite people to hang out with up here!
The Coons, Mike and Britt.

We have lots more fun that is to come and we are slowly planning more events. Kasey just got a fishing license so I'm sure we will have some stories from that. We also are hoping to go on a plane ride over Anchorage soon and a day cruise in Seward! I can't wait for it all and we will keep you posted!!

Kasey's Crazy Customers

So APX has asked the sales reps to take pictures with all the customers that they sell. Well little did I know this would be a great idea. So Kasey takes our camera out to sell each day and he comes home with some of the most interesting stories and pictures because of it. So I thought I had to share.

First more moose sitings!! He says it's almost a daily occurrence now. So here is a picture for ya....HUGE!

Second...Kasey goes out and is selling to this guy. He gets him all set up and the guy has to pay like $100 extra for a piece of equipment in upgrades that Kasey will make extra money off of...then he spots it.....

That's right a Bow and Arrow. So Kasey started talking to him about the bow and arrow and finds out the guy is thinking about selling it. Kasey then asks him how much he is selling it for. The guy said he would sell it to Kasey for $100 bucks but really its worth about $300. Kasey then offers to pay for the equipment in exchange for the bow (this costs nothing to Kasey because the company would have paid for the equipment anyways). The guy agreed so now I have a bow and arrow sitting in my living room collecting dust that Kasey is more then excited to take to our ranch this summer and try out.

Third....Kasey is out selling one day when he knocks on these girls door. They are prob in their mid to late 20's or early 30's. So Kasey gets a sale but they fail credit check and the girls say to come back tomorrow and they will talk to their mother and put the system in her name. Well when Kasey gets up to go they start talking dirty little sayings in spanish (yet they have no idea he speaks spanish as well). Kasey, fortunately for them was wearing some jeans that have a huge HOLE in the booty and once he stood up to leave, yet again, the dirty spanish sayings started flying. Kasey understanding it all and could only blush a lil and say goodbye. haha. Well the next day he goes back and sure enough the girls are all dazzled up and wearing "cheap perfume" as Kasey describes it. Kasey just laughs to himself and gets the sale finalized. So at the end of the sale they start talking to him and he mentions me. They didn't believe him and that he was married. He asked if they saw his ring which they replied no they didn't think anything of it. The two girls then start talking to each other again speaking in spanish and say oh well a wife doesn't matter or something to that effect. Kasey yet again just smiles and says thanks and dips out....what can you do my husband is one stud!!...PS. Kasey said the only way they could hang out is if they had someone else who wanted an alarm system, sure enough the next day they called him up to sign up thier mother haha!!! Flirt to convert to a different degree.

Finally, fourth.....Kasey gets into this house and is trying to sell these customers when this thud thud thud comes tromping down the hall.....

Yep it was a herd of all sorts of animals. And yes that was a pig in Kasey's lap not another dog. I could not spot laughing at these pictures. I can't help but wonder what goes through peoples heads when they think yeah lets have a pig for a pet. (well my dad had one but he lived on a farm, a little different). Kasey said the house smelled "like shiz" and they were a very interesting family.

So that's all for stories from, A Day in the Life of Kasey. I don't have any of my own...still no job but I do keep myself busy doing other things like buying flowers and arranging them, blogging, scrapbooking, going to see movies like "17 Again", laying by the fireplace, facebooking and napping all day. I know, I slave for my family :)

Just one of my creations so far this summer with plenty more to come!

If Kasey brings home anymore stories and pictures I will be sure to share with ya!!

Goodbye Utah...Hello Alaska?

That's right everyone we are now living in Alaska. We started the long 4 day journey on the 14th. It was super hectic because we weren't supposed to leave till the 16th so we had to pack all day Monday and be ready to leave at 6 the next morning so we would be able to join two other cars on our trek up. Needless to say it was a very very stressful day.

The car ride was very long but I must say we did see some pretty cool things. The scenery was beautiful. We saw lots and lots of trees which reminded me of the book Twilight (which we listen to on CD the whole way up...great idea by me!) and how the trees would be like Edwards hunting ground ha ha ha. We saw some pretty glaciers and frozen lakes with a sheet of ice on top about 2 feet thick! We saw a bald eagle that I'm no kidding was the size of a small child. Lots of buffalo and wild horses but to Kasey's disappointment we never saw a moose. I told him not to worry because I was sure he would see at least one by the time we left Alaska. By the end of the ride we both thought we were going to pull our eyes out of boredom then we pulled into Anchorage.

When I realized we were actually there I was super confused because I thought Alaska was supposed to be beautiful and green and luscious. Where we pulled in there was still snow, dirt and gravel EVERYWHERE, and brown dead shrubbery. When we got to our apartment I asked the office lady when it was supposed to get green. She said that right now is what they call breakup season because all the snow and ice are breaking up and it should start getting green in early to mid May. Then when we went to the bank I was talking to the teller and asked him about the gravel which was all over, it was on the medians where there should be grass, all over the roads, in parking lots, honestly everywhere you can think of gravel was. He said that here they don't even bother with salt on the roads they just throw straight gravel on the roads and that soon someone would be going around and cleaning it all up. I'm glad that's not my job!

So some of you are still wondering why we are in Alaska and some already know but Kasey is selling security systems door-to-door for APX for the summer. What job I will get here I'm not sure yet but I hate searching for jobs so that's why I'm blogging. But anyhow now that we are here and all moved in and Kasey is selling life for me is getting pretty boring until I get a job.

Kasey came home the other day and was super excited because he got 3 sales and saw a moose in a lady's backyard! Shocking I know. The lady said that moose are really common in residential areas but super annoying because they just walk through and knock down peoples fences and poo all over the lawn and eat everything. Apparently if you have every had problems with deer in your yard you haven't seen anything yet. Kasey said the moose was huge. He said that if he would have stood by it, he would have come up to the top of the moose's back and the moose still would have had a whole head on him! That we freak me out. I'm not too sure if I really want to see a moose still. My dad told me they were very angry creatures and they could really do some damage, so to see one that big outside my back sliding glass door would not comfort or excite me in the slightest.

So that's life for us now but I'm sure there will be much more to tell ya'll during the summer. We'll keep you posted if we see anymore moose! WEIRD!!

Valentine's Day Lovin

So last year on Valentine’s Day it was our first date. Kasey had to talk me into going but I finally gave in and I am very happy that I did. He wouldn't tell me what we were going to do he just gave me a ski mask and said I would have to dress warm. So I spent the next couple of days wondering. Well the day before we went out Kasey and I had been texting. About an hour after that conversation had ended I got this text from him that said, hey when are we going to get the sleds. So I was super confused and didn't really know what was going on so I asked him what he was talking about. Well it turns out that he didn't mean to text me at all and that he was just thinking about me and texted me instead of his roommate. Well it turns out he has a bad habit of sending text messages to someone when he is thinking about them instead of who he is intending on sending the text to. So from there I started guessing what we were going to do and I guessed that we were going to go night snowmobiling!

Well the morning comes and I go to my first class and Kasey has a note with a CD and a single red rose sitting at my seat. It was really cute. He had labeled the CD Pre-super date (it had pretty much all my favorite songs on it somehow) and the note had a “self portrait” that he had drawn of himself.

It looked exactly like him as you can tell from the picture.

Well that night came and of course he picks me up and there are sure enough sleds in the back of the truck. Well I was sooooo excited and ready for the fun to begin. We get out on the trial and all the other dates (4 all together) know each other pretty well and they went off ridding the snowmobiles in the powder and up huge hills doing all sorts of little adventurous things while Kasey is playing it safe because he didn't really know what type of girl I am. So I was thinking that this would be a long night if I didn’t say anything so of course I decided to see if he would man up and I said something. Well next thing I know we are climbing the biggest hill there and I was terrified but loving it!!

Some other fun events of the night include: Kasey learned that snowmobiles don't climb a trees, I learned that when turning to avoid a tree I need to let off the gas in order to not run into it…needless to say we don't quite get along with trees ha ha ha

Anyhow the night ended and I remember thinking things could really go far with him and now look where we are a year later spending our first married Valentine’s day together!

Now for Valentine’s Day THIS YEAR we went to Vegas to visit with my parents and my sister Ashley and her family. It was a great weekend we helped my parents clean out their garage, spent some time together, and just all around had fun. We decided to go out to eat the day before Valentine’s Day because it wouldn't be as busy. We decided on Outback and it was lots of fun but we weren't really thinking and didn't take a picture!

Then on Valentine’s Day Kasey woke me up with roses which I loved of course. After that we decided we would take one of my nieces Macie to a breakfast buffet. She was amazed by that! She thought it was the neatest thing that you could get whatever you wanted, doughnuts, fruit, ice cream, pancakes, French toast, anything!

After that Kasey, my mom, and I took all the kids down to the strip to see all the little things that kids love like Lions at the MGM, the M&M factory, the Volcano at the Mirage, and the “dancing water” at the Bellagio.

It was a very entertaining day and the kids were hilarious and so cute! It was kinda funny because everyone thought they were all mine and Kasey’s kids. Ahhhhh me having an 8 yr old nice try ha ha ha oh well. I’m sure it was a nice break for Ashley and Justin to not have to watch them and I know that they sure tired us out and it was a good form of birth control for us at the moment anyhow ha ha ha

In total our weekend was great and we can’t wait to go back to warm Vegas again soon but it is actually starting to get nicer here in Utah. (Watch now that I said that it is going to snow with my luck)

Keep on Waiting

Well we habe been married for 2 1/2 months now and still in the honeymoon period! Well we have been waiting to get back all our wedding pictures so we could post them and then keep our blog going but because its taking so long we figure we might as well keep it up-to-date until we get them and just add those in later. We have a couple so here they are. Also here a a couple of my bridals.
This was the best day of my life!

I LOVE this picture!

I was freezing in this picture hence my nose and cheeks are a little red ha ha ha

So this semester Kasey and I are just working...well we are supposed to be anyway but it is taking me forever to start my job. I will start working at Red Lobster on the 20th of this month so until then I have just been hanging out not doing to much. Kasey has been selling APX Alarm systems in Las Vegas on the weekends so because my family lives there I join in on the fun. We went there last week all week and while Kasey was out knocking doors I was hanging out at home or going with my mom to different places.

So while I was board one day I called my sister Ashley and told her what I was doing and that I was in Vegas. Then I told her that we were planning on going to Vegas the following Wednesday (tomorrow) for Valentines day. She said that would be fun and that it made her want to come visit as well and get out of rainy Portland. I told her she should fly in the next day and keep me company. She laughed and said that would be fun but wasn't going to happen. So we ended the conversation and then later that night she called the house. She said that after I told her we were going to Vegas the next weekend she really wanted to go to. So she asked her husband if they could join in on the fun and he said yes!! So this weekend my sister and her family are going to join us for Valentines day in Vegas and we are super excited!
